Rental Guide for First-Timers :)

Hi everyone. Renting a home is a simple process, but there are precautions to take. Our platform is transparent, but always stay alert.

1. Never transfer money in advance.

If you haven't seen the apartment in person and haven't taken a photo of the landlord's ID — no online payments. Chatted, saw photos, and sent money? 90% chance you got scammed.

2. A deposit is always required.

At the time of writing, this is mandatory. If they say "no deposit" — great, you're lucky, but ask all the right questions. At least ask "why no deposit?"

3. How much to pay.

For an apartment — usually one month's rent. For a villa — often the entire rental period. Renting a villa for six months? Be ready to pay a six-month deposit.

4. Deposit is not last month's rent.

At most — utility bills for the last month. Don't mix these up.

5. Pay now, move in later.

Sometimes the deposit is due today, but move-in is in a few days. That's normal. But ask for a photo of the landlord's ID — you'll sleep better.

6. Read the contract.

You're not in your home country. Any mistake on your part means eviction or an unpleasant conversation with the landlord.

7. Deposit return terms.

Read them carefully and follow every rule. You probably don't have extra money and time for a lawyer.

8. Check the inventory list.

The contract lists everything — down to teaspoons. What's on paper must match reality. Otherwise, you'll pay for your carelessness when moving out.

9. Be a good tenant.

Respect the home, traditions, and culture of the country. Your behavior reflects how the landlord treats you. The better you get along, the more perks you get — they'll buy you a kettle, replace the TV, or fix whatever needs fixing.
